This is a competitive level design and encounter design study that took three months and the final level is a result of a lot of iterations based on playtests and feedbacks. The final level was a 4v4 map for Capture the Flag.
My work as an encounter/level designer in this study :
Researched different competitive modes (Hardpoint, CTF, TDM, Bomb Plant/Defuse and Arena) in depth and selected the most suited game mode for our design goal of focusing on traversal possibilities offered by Fortnite.
Designed the prototype level on paper with different "levels" to traverse. (Different layers for traversal)
Blocked out base level in UEFN and play tested to reiterate the design.
Designed several POIs and laid out a custom uneven flooring for different types of encounter opportunities for both teams.
Designed and finalized different player classes (light, heavy, general, special) based on playtest observations and detailed weapon research.
Conducted several 3v3 and 4v4 playtests.
